Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between your basic and professional packages?
Our basic package includes email, calendar and address book. Our professional package has many customizable features including attachment search, IM and mobile options, and multi-domain elements. See our Packages page for more details.
How does Q90 Mail differ from Google Apps hosting services?
Note that we are not only an alternative, but also you may use Q90 Mail hosting with Google Apps.

In addition to our delivering support to all of your team members with mailboxes, not only a few of your technical people, some common reasons organizations choose Q90 Mail over Google Apps include:
  1. Free/busy time scheduling instead of calendar overlays
  2. Microsoft Outlook 2003/2007 sync (mail, calendars, contacts, tasks, photos, identities)
  3. Native Mac mail, ical and addressbook sync (mail, calendars, contacts, photos!)
  4. Thunderbird Mac/Win/Linux mail, contacts, calendar sync
  5. Mobile device off-line, over-the-air (OTA) sync, including iZimbra for iPhones
  6. Firefox extension to drag and drop files into briefcases for file sharing
Can I use multiple domain names in the Q90 Mail shared hosting environment?
Yes! You can either 1) use a domain alias, or 2) simply order another domain admin for each additional domain you need. A domain alias is a one-to-one, automatic mapping of one domain name to the other. So if your primary domain is yourcompany.com, and you have ordered a domain alias for yourcompany2.com, then any mailbox you create for yourcompany.com will automatically accept mail for the same mailbox at yourcompany2.com. All mailboxes in the aliased domain automatically map to all mailboxes in your primary domain.
Does Q90 Mail work with Outlook? Mac Mail? Mozilla Thunderbird?
Yes, yes, and yes! One of Q90 Mail's great strengths is that it promotes choice. You can use many different methods to access your information, and it all stays in sync, even if you use, for example, Outlook at the office, a Mac at home, a Windows Mobile smartphone on the road, and a web browser when none of the above are available.

Q90 Mail is compatible with Windows XP, SP2, and Outlook 2003, and will support Vista and Outlook 2007 in version 5.

Q90 Mail is also compatible with OS X 10.4 Tiger and 10.5 Leopard, iCal, AddressBook, and Mail.app.

With Mac, Windows and Linux clients, Q90 Mail has customized the shared Q90 Mail hosting environment so you can conveniently use secure LDAP to search your Global Address List (your internal email addresses and names).

On the web, it is highly recommended for both platforms, Mac and Windows, clients use the free Firefox web browser. Please note that as of December, 2007, Zimbra currently lists Safari support as beta.

In using the Q90 Mail connectors, to prevent conflicts, it is recommended that clients not use other sync plug-ins, extensions or preferences.
I like using my mobile device for email. Does Zimbra support that?
Smartphones enables two-way, over-the-air synchronization of mail, contacts, calendar and task data between the mobile device and the Q90 Mail Server. It features push email, which sends messages in real time to your device when it arrives on the Q90 Mail Server.

Zimbra Mobile, a part of Q90 Mail, is an optional component add-on purchased for Q90 Mail Pro Edition and works 'out-of-the-box' with supported devices (just enter the Q90 Mail Server address and your user name, similarly to how you'd configure Microsoft Exchange).

Supported devices are ActiveSync compatible and include the Treo 650, 680, 700 w/p, Nokia E-Series, Motorola Q, and Samsung Blackjack (all Windows Mobile 5+ devices).
